How to Apply a Skin to the Front Display of Your Kindle
Protect your Kindle and give it a fresh look with a high-quality skin. Follow these simple steps to apply your front display skin with precision.
What You’ll Need:
- The Kindle skin (front piece)
- A microfiber cloth
- A flat, clean workspace
- A hairdryer (optional, for easier edge adhesion)
Step 1: Clean the Front of Your Kindle
Make sure your Kindle screen and bezel are clean and dry before applying the skin.
- Power off your Kindle.
- Use a microfiber cloth to gently remove dust, smudges, and fingerprints.
- If needed, lightly dampen the cloth with water or use an alcohol wipe for extra cleaning. Let it dry completely before proceeding.
Step 2: Test the Fit
Before removing the backing, line up the skin over your Kindle’s front display.
- Position the skin over the bezel to check how it aligns with the screen and any cutouts (such as buttons or the logo area).
- Make sure it matches the shape of your specific Kindle model.
Step 3: Apply the Skin
Now that you’re familiar with the fit, it’s time to apply the skin.
- Carefully peel the skin from its backing.
- Avoid touching the adhesive side more than necessary.
- Align the skin starting from one edge—usually the top or bottom works best.
- Slowly press it down, working your way across the surface. Use your fingers to smooth it down as you go to prevent air bubbles.
- Ensure the edges of the skin line up cleanly with the bezel and don’t cover any part of the screen.
Step 4: Secure the Edges
For corners or slightly raised areas:
- (Optional) Use a hairdryer on low heat to gently warm the skin for 5–10 seconds. This helps it mold to the surface more easily.
- Press down firmly along the edges and corners to ensure full adhesion.
Step 5: Final Touch
- Smooth out any remaining air bubbles by pushing them toward the edge.
- Use a microfiber cloth to give the skin a final polish and press down all edges.
Tips for Best Results
- Apply in a dust-free environment.
- Take your time with alignment—reposition gently if needed.
- Tiny air bubbles usually disappear within 24–48 hours, but you can use a pin to release any stubborn ones.
